Lattuga Radichetta Barba Dei Frati

Lettuce, Radichetta, Barba Dei Frati early Plant of medium dimensions with semi-open head.  The numerous leaves are long, tight and serrated with mildly crunchy ribs.  Lettuce Radichetta, also called catalogna. Rustic country lettuce. Early & cold hardy. Good resistance to bolting. Long thick stems green serrated leaf. Open head will grow to sixteen inches. Not bitter.  A very good tasting lettuvce.  Its good at any size, and grows quick. Texture is great as well at most sizes, crunchier then most other lettuces even as baby.  Lettuce taste but has the texture and crunch of escarole. Use in salads. Can also be cooked. Spring, summer, fall. Approximately 4000 seeds. Approximately 600-1200 seeds per gram.

This is sweet and delicious, this deer tongue lettuce produces generously. closely spaced, it can be sheared for baby lettuce, with rapid re-growth. at 5" on center,the plants make larger leaves, but still quite tender and tasty when using just outer leaves repeatedly. handles heat and drought well.  This is a great find! Easy to grow, wonderfully crunchy and sweet. A terrific addition to any summer salad.  Texture is great as well at most sizes, crunchier then most other lettuces even as baby.
