Translated from Italian, this bean's name means "purple triumph." This treasured heirloom is a crisp, flavorful treat. Displaying lavender flowers against the bright green leaves with purple veins and stems, the very productive 6-8' vines are highly ornamental. When cooked, the rich purple 7-10" pods turn bright green. Italian for “purple triumph”, it’s a strong climber with exceptionally long, slender, and slightly flattened pods with a deep violet color and excellent flavor. Easy color to spot among the foliage and long enough to tie into a pretzel, it's beautiful in raw bean salads as well as cooked, though like all purple beans the color is not heat-stable. A kid favorite!
