Aster Alpinus Mix - Dwarf
Aster, Alpinus Multicolor Dwarf Mix. Rustic perennial with daisy like flowers, in shades of purple to white. A hardy plant found growing naturally in the alps. Ideal for ground cover, borders and rockeries. Sow Aster flower seed indoors in early spring using starter mix. Press flower seed into soil and barely cover. Transplant into the garden 12 inches apart. Sow April through June; flowering June through September. Aster alpinus is an herbaceous perennial forming clumps up to 8 inches tall. It has narrow dark green leaves and daisy-like flowerheads up to 2" in diameter, with colored petals and a yellow center. Grow some Aster seeds and attract both bees and butterflies to your garden with Aster Alpinus! Aster plants can be planted in any place there is well-drained, rich soil in a sunny location. If planting in warmer zones such as 7 - 8, you may consider using mulch with grass clippings or peat moss around root systems in mid June to protect tender root systems from extreme heat.
