Tobacco, Tabacco Ornamentale Multicolor
Tabacco Ornamentale Multicolor. Annual 'Flowering Tobacco' is generally grown as an interesting ornamental flowering plant which grows to between 2 and 3 feet high. It blooms from July through September with beautiful multicolored flowers that are trumpet-shaped, and attract hummingbirds, bees, and other pollinating insects. They are very fragrant and attract species of pollinating night moths as well. This plant prefers half shade and is ideal for borders and container growing.
Nicotiana x hybrida is an excellent natural repellent for many insects and larvae. To prepare our tobacco maceration, it is sufficient to dry about 20 leaves and then leave them to macerate in half a liter of water for a couple of days and then filter. Once ready, pour the liquid into a nebulizer and spray on the plants.
It is effective against the most common pests such as aphids, scale insects and spider mites.
The flowers are also edible, as well as being appreciated by bees.
