Tomato, Pomodoro San Marzano Select Redorta is an Indeterminate variety. Late. 85 day A fabulous producer of meaty dry tomatoes with thin skin and few seeds producing 9-10 ounce tomatoes. San Marzano is traditionally renowned in Italy as one of the best paste cooking tomatoes. Named for a mountain in the Alps it's a vigorous bush type plant.
The plants are very large and may be the largest of the Roma type tomato and very disease resistant. The fruit is also very large at least double the size of other San Marzano types. You will marvel at the size of this solid meaty fruit with few seeds. What a great tomato has low water content so will give sauce and salsa a richer taste. These tomatoes have the smallest and easiest to remove seed cavity. After peeling slice them in half and remove the small seed gel cavity which is about a teaspoon in each half. They are even great fresh in salads. Just a great tomato with excellent taste.
You can stake or cage this variety. If staking space 18" apart. If caging or leaving to sprawl, space 24" apart.
