Need light to germinate so do not cover seeds. Transplant at 12" spacing. If direct seed, 2-3 seeds every 12" 2 weeks before last frost date and thin. 14-21 days for seeds to germinate. Flowers from early July to first frost; remove dead blossoms to encourage flowering.
